Why is Sky-Dance a healing art?
"All that is important is this one moment in movement. Make the moment vital and worth living. Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused"
Martha Graham
Dance your stress away
Your lifestyle can easily become a source of stress. If this happens, tension increases in your body. When this natural state of harmony and balance is obstructed, your tensions become habitual, eventually contributing to the erosion of your happiness, sense of well-being and general health. Your breathing can become tight and restricted; you can become low in energy, joy and spontaneity.
Sky-Dance helps to overcome stress and tension by bringing your body and mind into a state of deep relaxation. Your posture can then gradually improve and lead to increased vitality, energy and general well-being. Your senses can become more acute, leading you to an increased sense of bliss and expanded creativity.
Dance and relaxation
Sky-Dance aims to pass on certain skills which can easily be applied to your daily activities, for example tools to reduce physical pain caused by bad posture or lack of exercise. By bringing your body and mind into a state of relaxation, your physical coordination can improve.
Sky-Dance will help you to reach deeper states of relaxation and helps the functioning of the cerebellum at the back of your brain, which governs your motor coordination. By having better cerebellar integration, life will become less of a struggle, and you will have more resources simply to enjoy life and feel good.
Meditation to bring you inner peace
Sky-Dance also offers meditation which helps to reduce your stress levels, thereby decreasing the probability of heart disease, and also helps you to understand your mind and to create a sense of inner peace. Mindfulness Meditation helps to increase your potential to concentrate, to be spontaneous and creative, and helps you to live in the here and now. Studies have shown that meditation activates the limbic system in the brain, which regulates relaxation, heart rate, blood pressure and metabolism.
By quieting your mind you get a greater understanding of who you are. The sessions integrate different streams of meditation techniques, such us colour, healing, and sheenay (Tibetan meditation). Classes are open to you whether you're a beginner or a more experienced practitioner.
"Body awareness not only anchors you in the present moment, it is a doorway out of the prison that is the ego. It also strengthens the immune system and the body's ability to heal itself."
Eckhart Tolle
